Rome Fortune’s new record “Diddy” is heavy on the Puffy wordplay, and it doesn’t stop there, as the Atlanta rapper makes references to Sean John, Total, and of course, “Take That,” across the mesmerizing Richie Souf production. Richie has been working with the likes of Makonnen, Swaghollywood, and Saba, but his abrasive synth sounds are a perfect foil to Rome’s breathy rhymes.
“Diddy” follows the release of “Kanye, Beyonce,” which makes us think Rome has a JEFFERY-like concept in store for his upcoming project Beautiful Pimp 3,It’s blues being influenced by hip-hop, if you listen to my music. There’s a lot of different influences there. I really just want to make [music] and if anything for the hip-hop genre, just show people that rap doesn’t have to be your full genre. It can be a skill set you have and just do you.
